Welcome to the Connecticut Tools for Schools website! This site is sponsored by the Connecticut School Indoor Environment Resource Team (CSIERT), in conjunction with the Connecticut Department of Public Health. CSIERT is a state-wide consortium of 24 state and federal organizations and agencies working together to improve the indoor environment in Connecticut schools.
The purpose of this web site is to be a “one-stop” source for information and referrals relating to the Tools for Schools program for TfS team members, parents, teachers, administrators, facilities personnel, students and others. It is also a source for other school-related environmental health issues such as radon, asbestos and lead.
Check out our TFS SUCCESS stories on thhe above link!
This web site also has a Forum page to share the many useful
improvements and solutions to IEQ problems that schools and school
districts have implemented across the state. Please send and share
your TfS experience/improvement in question & answer form for the
appropriate Topic Area on the Forum link aboe.
Example (under Mold topic):
Q: There is a mold odor in our office, but we can’t identify
the source. There are many plants. What could be the problem?
A: Check the soil in the pots. Mold often grows there. Our
school set up a schedule for regularly changing the soil— the problem was solved. - John Doe, Anywhere School District.
